Emmanuelle Hertel, Fashion Design

Emmanuelle Hertel received her Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Victoria in 2005 and has since built a career as a freelance copy editor and proofreader, establishing her own company, [sic]Editing, and working with clients both locally and abroad. In 2009, she enrolled at the Art Institute of California - San Francisco to pursue her dream of studying Fashion Design, and quickly flew to the top of her class, earning a GPA of 4.0. In addition to achieving academic excellence, Emmanuelle was the recipient of the Best Construction award at her student fashion show, StyleWOW, as well as the recipient of the award for Best Portfolio in Fashion Design at her graduation portfolio show. In 2013 she received her Associate's Degree in Fashion Design, with Honours.

A proficient designer, constructor, patternmaker and grader, Emmanuelle holds special knowledge of illustration and hand-drawn flats as well as technical drawing and flat design using Adobe software. She also has working knowledge of computerized patternmaking and grading using Gerber technology.  

Inspired by the vintage designs of Dior, Givenchy and Balenciaga as well as modern designers such as Vince and Diane von Furstenburg, Emmanuelle aspires to create apparel that will make women feel beautiful, confident and comfortable as soon as they slip into one of her designs.

In 2015 Emmanuelle and her husband had their first child, providing the inspiration for Do-Mi-Ra, a line of accessories for mama and baby.
